In this unit, students explore food on our school's on site farm. They test the carbon isotopes in their own hair and in the foods they eat to trace the physical matter in their bodies through the modern American food chain. This unit culminates in a Family Food Fest where students share a meaningful dish or story about food from their family. Throughout the unit, we also explore challenges and opportunities in our food system, including those related to advertising, accessibility, nutrition, and health.
